București, 2 septembrie 2019 – Academia de Golf Demis Papillon a organizat la București prima competiție de Night Golf din România, un eveniment în premieră dedicat pasionaților de golf, care a avut loc la Clubul Diplomatic. Competiția a fost câștigată de Andrei Loghin din România iar la eveniment au participat concurenți din mai multe țări.
„Night golf” este un concept introdus în ultimii ani la nivel internațional și presupune jocul de golf pe timp de noapte cu echipamente speciale de semnalizare cum ar fi mingi vizibile noaptea, baghete pentru semnalizarea terenului dar și a jucătorilor pe teren. Acest tip de joc creează o experiență diferită și aduce o complexitate ridicată dar și un nivel de spectacol ridicat în jocul de golf.
„Am ales să aducem în premieră în România conceptul de Night Golf pe terenul de la Clubul Diplomatic din București pentru că este un concept care oferă o experiență complet nouă și cred că se potrivește foarte bine terenurilor din interiorul orașelor mari cum este cel din Herăstrău. Bucuresțiul intră astfel pe lista nu foarte lungă a orașelor în care se poate juca golf noaptea. Feedbackul primei ediții este excelent și avem în plan organizarea de astfel de competiții în viitor pentru iubitorii de golf din București dar și din regiune.”, a declarat Demis Papillon, fondatorul Academiei de Golf Demis Papillon.
„Formatul de „night golf” aduce multe provocări și ai nevoie de un management al jocului diferit. Distanțele sunt mult mai dificil de apreciat iar loviturile duc mingile pe distanțe mult reduse comparativ cu jocul uzual pe timp de zi. Joc golf de 7 ani dar competiția de sâmbătă a fost una dintre cele mai dificile la câte am participat.” a declarat câștigătorul turneului, Andrei Loghin.

Academia de Golf Demis Papillon este o organizaţie care militează pentru dezvoltarea şi popularizarea golfului în România. Demis Papillon a fondat în 2009 Academia și vizează, pe termen scurt, dezvoltarea jocului de golf în Bucureşti, urmărind, pe termen lung, creşterea şi formarea jucătorilor de golf din România, Bulgaria și Europa de Est. Din 2014, DPGA a devenit partener al cunoscutei școli de golf Gary Edwin din Australia, școală care are filiale deschise pe toate continentele lumii. În 2016 Academia de golf Demis Papillon s-a mutat la terenul de golf de la Clubul Diplomatic din Parcul Herastrău în București.
